Alimentaria BCN 2016 to be held between the 25th and 28th April at the Fira de Gran Via Barcelona, is set to be its most international edition thanks to a firm commitment to consolidate its position as a platform for growth abroad for participating companies, who see the fair as an opportunity to enter new markets. With the intention of responding to this desire to expand,
Alimentaria BCN has increased its investment by 35% in order to attract a greater number of international buyers. It is expected to pass the 497 invited Hosted Buyers in 2014 to more than 800 planned for 2016.
Alimentaria BCN will facilitate contacts between exhibitors and buyers from all key international food and beverage chain with the aim of promoting business meetings and closing business. And in Alimentaria 2014, 59% of exhibitors were already exporting, while 73% of those not yet sold in foreign markets said that he intended to do in the next 2 or 3 years.
To promote this internationalization, Alimentaria works in conjunction with institutions such as the Spanish Federation of Industries Food and Beverage (IFLA), the Association of Industrial Enterprises internationalized (AMEC), the Spanish Institute for Foreign Trade (ICEX), the Ministry of Agriculture, Food and Environment (MAGRAMA) and the Agency for the Competitivitat COMPANY (ACCIÓ).
Thus, the meeting will facilitate contacts between exhibitors and international buyers iniated by the Alimentaria virtual Matchmaking platform, which will see which guests are attending the sessions, contact them and request meetings in the days of the show in advance.
These programs of meetings, the novelty of this edition will be the Intervin Business Meetings, within the space Vinorum. For the first time, the show dedicated to the wine industry will have its own program of business meetings, thanks to the important presence of buyers of the sector in the Hosted Buyers program.
Likewise, there will be the Food & Drink Business Meetings, where they conducted interviews previously scheduled between exhibitors and buyers from outside Europe. For its part, the Brokerage Event will be the place to reach trade agreements and technology transfer between European companies and technology centers.
Alimentaria BCN: Representing the five continents
The international buyers program aims to open business options of participating in Food on five continents, so guests between Hosted Buyers will be representing virtually the entire globe: Latin America, Asia, USA and Canada, Europe and Middle East. International representation in Alimentaria will not end with over 800 hosted buyers. The organization of the fair continues its travel program and strengthening its international promotion strategy to identify opportunities, to know in depth the strategic markets and contact with industry representatives in order to attract professionals from around the world and to increase the total of 42,000 international visitors which were registered in the 2014 edition.
In recent months, shares of specific promotion in key markets in Europe (France, Germany, United Kingdom), North America (United States), Latin America (Mexico, Chile), Asia (China, Japan, Hong Kong have taken place , Singapore, Thailand) and the Middle East (United Arab Emirates) to contact and attract quality buyers throughout the distribution chain, from importers, wholesalers and retail to food service business channels.
40 years of Food Alimentaria
Alimentaria BCN 2016 to be held between the 25th and 28th April at the Fira de Gran Via Barcelona, is celebrating its 40th anniversary. The International Food and Beverage prepares its new edition, with an updated trade fair concept that seeks to grow in supply and strengthen its strategic positioning in gastronomy, catering and hospitality to represent a broad spectrum of industry and reflect the latest trends market and consumer habits.
In 2016, Alimentaria will be structured into five halls, bringing together the main markets of food and drinks: Intervin (wines and spirits), Intercarn (meat and derivatives), Restaurama (restaurants), Interlact (milk and derivatives) and Multiple Foods (multi-sweet, preserves, oils and premium products).
The fair has four decades of experience and is established as the reference event for food in Europe. In its latest edition, the event drew more than 140,000 visitors from around the world, 3,800 companies represented and included the participation of more than 1,000 international companies.
