To avoid any nasty surprises this Easter, please be aware that the Barcelona Tourist Tax applicable to apartment accommodation has risen to 2.25€ + VAT (2.48€) per day, from the 1st April 2017 (01/04/17)
This is an increase on the original overnight accommodation tax applied by the Catalan Government as of 1st of November 2012. The fee is per person per night for a maximum of 7 nights and is not included in the rental price of the apartment, this is normally payable on check in or check out from your property dependent. Anyone under the age of 17 is exempt.
Here is the new Tariff Card for the Barcelona Tourist Tax:

The new rates were announced in the Official Gazette of the Generalitat de Catalunya (officially and in Catalan Diari Oficial de la Generalitat de Catalunya, abbreviated as DOGC) is the official publication of the laws of the Autonomous Community of Catalonia and the rules, general provisions , Agreements, resolutions, edicts, notifications, announcements and other acts of the Administration and of the Government of Catalonia, as long as the corresponding legal effects take place.
